When the Italian wine of Franciacorta PDO meets the French oysters of Marennes Oléron PGI, quality and tradition from Europe are paired at their best.
The PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) label identifies a product that originates from a place, region or country whose quality or characteristics are essentially or exclusively due to a particular geographical environment and its intrinsic natural and human factors. Furthermore, its production, preparation and processing stages are carried out in the defined geographical area, in compliance with the strict production rules established in the product specification.
The PGI (Protected Geographical Indication) label designates a product that originates from a specific place, region or country whose geographical origin is essentially attributable to a given quality, reputation or any other characteristics. Furthermore, at least one of its processing stages takes place in the defined geographical area.
The agricultural and agri-food production and processing sector is beginning to play an increasingly important role in European politics. This is due to the fact that in addition to being one of the pillars of the EU economy, it is also able to attract new forces, i.e. young people and new investments in innovation, research and development, in order to become more competitive and orientated towards the consumers’ increasingly progressive and complex expectations.
