Ideal to ignite the palate during the upcoming party season, this elegant marriage of complex Italian effervescence and tender French delicacy is heralded at an elegant soirée held today at ORO restaurant in Central, hosted by European Union dignitaries for honoured guests from the F&B industry and media. Newly arrived in Hong Kong, these exquisite wines and creamy, jet-fresh oysters that encapsulate the theme of European Elegance for any Moment are available at selected purveyors of fine European food throughout the city for seasonal celebrations. 


Franciacorta PDO wines and Marennes Oléron PGI oysters represent the best of European quality and tradition as certified by the European Union (EU). A genuine European taste experience is assured under the label system established by the EU in 1992 that protects and promotes the unique characteristics of products linked to their geographical origin and traditions. Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) classification stipulates that every stage of preparation, production and processing must occur at the place of origin. For products awarded Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) certification, at least one of these stages is undertaken in the region. 


Exclusively produced in the Franciacorta appellation in Brescia, Lombardy, under strict rules, Franciacorta wines carry PDO certification. Marennes Oléron oysters hold the PGI label and can only be cultivated in the designated Marennes-Oléron basin in the department of Charente-Maritime. Based on natural factors like climate and soil as well as human know-how, these quality labels not only ensure authenticity and territorial identity, but also recognise the craftsmanship and dedication of local producers. Both fine products have been handcrafted for generations using traditional techniques and sustainable practices. The natural savoury flavours emanating from their distinctive terroirs are accentuated when they are paired together, with the bubbly freshness of the wines balancing the oysters’ delightful sour-sweet salinity.


Franciacorta PDO ­– Italian Sparkling Wines Born of Tradition and Finesse



The Franciacorta appellation is renowned for its exclusive devotion to sparkling wines created through two fermentations – the second occurring in the bottle, with ageing on the lees prompting enriched flavours, aromas and texture, refined bubbles, and soft acidity. Grapes are primarily Chardonnay, with Pinot Nero (Pinot Noir) and Pinot Bianco (Pinot Blanc), although the indigenous late-ripening Erbamat varietal increasingly features in the blend, bestowing extra depth and freshness. 


A winemaking success story for centuries, the region spans 2,000 hectares and 120 wineries across the rolling hills of Brescia, with a restricted yield assuring high quality within a total annual production of 20 million bottles. A mild climate, with cooling breezes from Lake Iseo, mineral-rich glacial soils, and a commitment to sustainable and organic viticulture also underpin Franciacorta’s remarkable complexity and elegance. 


There are wines to fuel all types of gatherings and celebrations. A delight with seafood and cheese and for toasting to any occasion, the easy-drinking Franciacorta Brut is savoury, zesty and aromatic, the result of an 18-month minimum of secondary fermentation and time on the lees. It appears as an inviting straw-yellow colour with golden highlights in the glass, and displays notes of freshly baked bread, delicate citrus, almonds, hazelnuts and dried figs. With no added sugar during finishing, Pas Dosé (Extra Brut) is beautifully dry and complex.


Franciacorta Satèn, a sparkling expression of Chardonnay and Pinot Bianco unique to this region, is a rounded, silky and tangy wine aged for at least 24 months, showing ripe fruit and toasted nut aromas tinged with delicate white flowers. Also requiring two years on the lees, the lively, full-bodied Franciacorta Rosé enchants with its refined festive spirit and subtle notes of wild strawberry, rose and toasted bread. Its radiant colour stems from at least 35% Pinot Nero grapes, delicately fermented on the skins. 


Comprising 85% of wine from a single vintage and made only in the best years, Franciacorta Millesimato must spend at least 30 months on the lees. Its exceptional taste reflects the weather patterns of the specific vintage and the quality of its grapes. The ultimate in depth and complexity reserved for special celebrations, the premium Franciacorta Riserva requires bottle ageing for a minimum of 60 months.


Marennes Oléron PGI Oysters – Awash with Nuanced Flavours of the French Coast



Revered for their distinctive terroir and refined taste, Marennes Oléron oysters are matured for 28 days or more in the claires of Charente-Maritime on the Atlantic coast – small, shallow clay basins carved from former salt marshes, where freshwater meets the natural rhythms of the tidal sea, providing abundant microalgae to sustain their precious inmates. Boasting some 6,000 hectares of oyster beds and 3,000 hectares of claires, this is Europe’s leading oyster basin, and it represents 50% of French oyster production.


The Pacific (Crassostrea gigas) oysters are the pride and joy of families who have farmed in this unique environment since the mid-1800s, passing down their expertise in sustainable aquaculture. Blessed with nuanced aromas and flavours, they are exceptionally firm and meaty and have a superior shell quality. 


For gastronomes, the season begins in October, and there’s a delicately salty oyster to excite every palate and grace every celebration in the run-up to New Year. The light, less fleshy Marennes Oléron Fine de Claire and the characteristic green-gilled Fine de Claire Verte are beloved for the subtlety of their marine flavours, while the firmer, meatier Spéciale de Claire exhibit a remarkable balance of sweetness and saltiness. Most prized are the Pousse en Claire, cultivated for at least four months in the ponds at low densities and showcasing intense briny, nutty, vegetal and mineral notes. 


Paired Perfection – A Triumph of European Quality and Elegance


Franciacorta PDO wines and Marennes Oléron PGI oysters are natural companions, ushering in a synergy of umami flavours alongside an unmistakable European elegance. The acidity and effervescence of the wine cleanses the palate before an encounter with the briny taste and plumpness of the oysters, whose purity requires no seasoning. Elevate their pairing into a ritual by serving them at the ideal temperature (wines at 6-10°C; oysters at 5-15°C) to enhance their qualities. Savour the oysters as customary for a fine wine: observing, inhaling and tasting in sensuous contemplation.


Pair Brut or Satèn with Fine de Claire to accentuate the oyster’s creaminess and salinity, and Satèn or Millesimato with Fine de Claire Verte to complement its vegetal notes and marine flavours. Brut goes hand in hand with Spéciale de Claire for the perfect balance of vibrant acidity and richness. Contrasting strong character and sweetness, Pas Dosé and Pousse en Claire are a gastronomic marriage made in heaven.

榮獲歐盟(EU)認證的Franciacorta PDO氣泡酒與Marennes Oléron PGI生蠔,充分展現歐洲業界對品質的堅持及對傳統的諾守。於1992年建立產品標籤制度,歐盟旨在保護並推廣仗賴地理來源及傳統工藝而成就的特色產品,確保消費者能享受最地道的歐洲風味。結合氣候、土壤等自然因素與匠人的精湛工藝,這些品質標籤不僅有助於分辨真偽及確認原產地身份,更能肯定當地業界世代相傳的職人手藝及廢寢熱誠。

Franciacorta PDO意大利氣泡酒:彰顯傳統.定義優雅



Franciacorta產區以專注釀造頂級氣泡酒而聞名,其氣泡酒釀造需經兩次發酵——首次為基酒發酵,而於第二次發酵時,會連同酒渣在瓶中完成,以增添層次、香氣與質感,造就細膩氣泡與柔和酸度。酒釀主要採用的葡萄品種為莎當妮(Chardonnay),輔以黑比諾(Pinot Nero)與白比諾(Pinot Bianco);近年亦加入晚熟的原生葡萄品種愛芭瑪(Erbamat),為酒體賦予更深邃的內涵,及更清新的風味。

歷經數世紀的傳奇產區Franciacorta坐落於布雷西亞省(Lombardy)的起伏山巒間,佔地2,000公頃、匯聚120家酒莊。產量受嚴格控制,年產僅2,000萬瓶,以極致標準成就經典品質。產區風土得天獨厚,由伊塞奧湖(Lake Iseo)帶來清涼微風、冰川土壤富含礦物,再結合持續推行的有機及永續耕作,令Franciacorta的出品風格優雅之餘,種類亦甚為多樣,適合各種場合品嘗。


Franciacorta Brut氣泡酒香氣雅逸、口感清爽,是搭配海鮮或芝士的佳品。此酒經至少18個月的瓶中二次發酵及酒渣陳釀,令酒體呈淡稻草黃酒色,輕泛閃爍金光,滿溢新鮮麵包、柑橘、杏仁、榛果與無花果乾的香氣。而Pas DoséExtra Brut氣泡酒在完成二次發酵後,完全不添加糖分,成就純淨細膩的酒風。


Franciacorta Satèn為該區特有的莎當妮及白比諾組合,經24個月陳存,酒體圓潤絲滑、酸度柔和,成熟果香輕漫,並點綴以烘烤堅果與雋永白花,時尚高雅。Franciacorta Rosé以至少35% 的黑比諾釀造,在謹慎監控下,連皮進行首次發酵,由此而來的淡粉紅色澤,溫暖浪漫,充滿節慶氣氛;在風味方面,其經兩年酒渣熟成後,酒體豐厚,氣泡細緻,瀰漫野生士多啤梨、玫瑰及烘烤麵包的香氣芳香,風格細膩迷人。

Marennes Oléron PGI生蠔:洋溢法國海岸的細膩鮮美



以獨特風土與精緻口感聞名的Marennes Oléron生蠔,需於法國大西洋岸濱海夏朗德省(Charente-Maritime)的Claires(鹽田池溏)內養殖至少28日。此地的池溏前身為鹽田,後經開鑿而成的淺層黏土小池塘,淡水與潮汐海水於此交匯,孕育出豐富的微藻,為蠔類提供理想的自然生長環境。當地坐擁約6,000公頃的蠔床與3,000公頃的池塘,為全歐洲最大的生蠔產區,佔全法國生蠔總產量的一半。這些風味絕佳的太平洋生蠔(Crassostrea gigas)是當地蠔農引以為傲的心血成果;他們自19世紀中葉以來便因時制地,運用傳統技術並融入現代可持續養殖的理念,不斷為世人提供此難忘美味。
